Admission

Admission

Admission to a Bachelor's degree program at Vilnius College of Design follows national higher education regulations, institutional admission rules, and program-specific academic requirements.

Applicants must hold a recognized secondary education qualification that grants access to higher education in their country. International qualifications are evaluated according to national recognition procedures.

How Applicants are Evaluated

Applicants are assessed based on their academic background, the relevance of completed subjects to the chosen study program, motivation for the field, and any additional program-specific admission requirements.

The weighting of subjects and the admission score calculation are defined annually in the official admission rules.

Applicants to design programs must submit a creative portfolio demonstrating visual skills, artistic potential, and creative thinking.

Depending on the application, candidates may also be invited to:

1A portfolio review
2An online or onsite interview
3A practical creative assignment

Selection focuses on creative ability, visual literacy, conceptual thinking, and motivation to study design or visual arts. Formal art education is not mandatory, but previous artistic preparation is considered an advantage.

Admission to the Smart Technology Industry program is primarily based on academic performance in mathematics and STEM-related subjects.

Applicants should demonstrate:

1Logical reasoning and analytical thinking
2Basic mathematical understanding
3Interest in programming, digital systems, or technology

Prior programming experience is not required, as foundational modules are included in the curriculum.

International applicants are required to submit additional documentation including a recognized secondary education certificate (translated and apostilled), proof of English language proficiency, a valid passport copy, and any other documents specified in the admission rules for the given academic year.

The final admission decision is made based on the overall evaluation of submitted documents, entrance examination results (where applicable), and the applicant's ranking among all candidates for the chosen study program. Successful applicants receive an official admission letter and a study contract.

Applicants with prior higher education experience may apply for recognition of previously completed courses. Recognition is granted based on comparison of learning outcomes, credit volume, and assessment results with the requirements of the target study program.

Non-EU/EEA students must obtain a national visa (D type) or temporary residence permit before arriving in Lithuania. The college provides mediation services through the MIGRIS system. Students are responsible for maintaining valid immigration status throughout their studies.
